I started my attachment on Monday 26 Feb 2007 at MAU lab (immunology lab). Been very interesting working there cos I'v wanted to look into a professional lab for a very long time. But it was kinda intimidating, and still is, tho. I have to do everyting from scratch myself next week. Hahas..
There were alot of techniques and theory to learn, as I am still a major greenhorn at this subject, not having touched on it before. I still dont know why my school posted me there. But still, it's good to know some first-hand knowledge of immunology from the experts, cos I'm taking that module next semester. =) But the experts are always soo busy.. I dont know if they have the time to guide a "greenie" like me
The ppl in my lab are HS, ZH, YM, M, LK and HLA. HS was the one who brought me to the lab from the briefing on the first day, and he's been the one guiding me the most since the beginning, so I think he's my supervisor. =) His project is kinda confusing tho and (arrrggh) too many steps to follow. ZH and LK let me help them abit (more like, 给他们添麻烦 =X ), YM taught me how to do Western Blot screening and other stuff. M and HLA were doing their own stuff but they did talk to me. They're all nice ppl. :)
Learnt alot of things this week le, but then still not confident lei. LK has this habit of asking me a few times if I'm sure what I'm doing, probably to test my confidence in handling.. whatever. -.-" But i find it funny. There was once I was supposed to stack a box of supplies under the table, and accidentally knocked over an empty box straight after LK was telling me what to do.. Den aft being stunned for a second, LK burst out laughing. Ahahaa. Ermz. Think I looked pretty stupid laaa. Who cares tho. Muz learn to be thick-skinned. :)
Finally today's Saturday le. The week passed so fast! i only have 7 weeks down there. At first 7 weeks seemed damn long, now no longer so. Ytd night I felt sooo tired, but still was dragged to Orchard Road for shopping with mum. Clothes again -.-
Needa go write my logbook le (if I understand the stuff, otherwise have to trouble them again =S )
